Working Party Sunday 2/9/18

Just a reminder about the sheds working party at the weekend.

There are a few jobs that are in need of tackling this weekend.
Current list of possibles
1) Moving hard core into furthest corner of the plot. Smashing it into small pieces.
2) Seeing if the benches in the west shed can be moved (emptied, cleared and dismantled)
3) Refitting benches in the “cleared shed from last working party day”
4) Clearing rubbish (9.am Saturday) Bill and I will meet and give a hand.
5) Mixing some cement to fill cracks in South wall.
6) Weeding and hoeing around front of sheds, and concrete surfaces.
7) Extracting a galvanised tank from North side of sheds with a view to cutting it into sizes to cover remaining open drain on north side of sheds.
8) Sweep out sheds.

With these jobs in mind, bring gloves, hoes, snips, wheelbarrows?? ( There are a couple there and we’ll bring one.) Anything you have that will help you with any of the above jobs.
Look forward to seeing you.
Bacon rolls to be provided, with tea and coffee.

Heybridge Basin 11th August 2018

Members wishing to go to the Heybridge rally should let Dave know as soon as possible as space in the lock is limited. Give Dave your boat name length and beam. Also the evening meal at the Jolly Sailor needs to know numbers, so let Dave know if you want to be booked in for a meal, and how many.

Kindred Clubs

As longer standing members will be aware, there is a tradition of mutual support between the various clubs on the Wallet. This is one of the reasons we are able to hold our meetings in the Wivenhoe sailing club on the first Monday.

This is just a reminder that members are cordially invited to participate in the various cruises organised by WSC. The next scheduled event is to the backwaters at the beginning of June.

The calendar of events can be found here. http://www.wivenhoesailing.org.uk/what-is-on

ACBOC Sheds working party

SATURDAY 28th April 9.00AM is a working party day to take place at the sheds at the creek. This year we are proposing 3 days on the calendar, 2 at the end of the season, and this one fast approaching.

The plan is to tidy up indoors and outdoors so that the sheds and the surrounding area can be used in the most advantageous way, for boat storage, renovation, launching and laying up.

Jobs that will be happening are:

Completely clearing out the middle shed.
Wiring work has been going on throughout the winter and there is still more cable clipping to do inside.
Hedges and brambles will need to be hacked back again, before they completely overgrow last years efforts. Also a quantity of hard core needs to be moved.

If you can help on this day, it may well be helpful if you bring what you need for the jobs E.g. PPE, Barrows, snips, working gloves etc. There is a limited range of tools on site.

BACON BUTTIES WILL BE SERVED AS REWARD!!!! at 11.30 ish
Hope to see you there.
