Essential Navigation Courses at the Nottage
Do you enjoy, or do you know anyone who enjoys being on the water with friends and family but might want to learn a bit more about what is involved in messing about safely in boats?
If you do then the RYA Essential Navigation and Seamanship Course is just right for you or them! The Nottage Maritime Institute is running the RYA Essential Navigation and Seamanship Course this winter commencing on 20 th January for seven evenings. The evening sessions are gently paced with time to discuss the topics informally and interactively. No prior experience is required, the topics covered will give you the knowledge you need to be a safe and useful crew member and will help you to assist the skipper in running the boat.It will also provide a sound basis for further learning should you wish to take on more responsibility afloat in the future.
Instructor: Bernie Hetherington (RYA Instructor)
Timetable: 20, 27 January, 3 and 24 February, 3, 10, 17, March 2022
Duration: 7 evenings 19.00 – 21.30
Course Fee: £165 including course materials (less 20% – £33, for local sailing and yacht club members)

As you know we don’t meet at WSC in January. Instead we meet for a meal out. Dave has been researching places available and has provisionally booked in at the Martello Inn in Clacton on sea.
Date MONDAY 17th January. Time 19:30 (7.30pm)
We do need to supply numbers and so if you would like to come please let DAVE HAYES know.
It will be nice to get back to normal, so do join us, put it on your calendar and contact Dave.
Regards
Brenda McKee (ACBOC Secretary)
Happily we can still meet at WSC on Monday 6th December at 7.45
This is the last meeting of 2021 and our next meeting will be 7 th February.
There will be a few festive nibbles provided to help the evening on its way, but as Omicron is looming over us, it would be sensible to do a lateral flow test before attending.
Looking forward to seeing you there
Our social meetings can recommence from next Monday 1st of November at the Wivenhoe Sailing Club in Wivenhoe at 19.45hrs
Please do a COVID lateral flow test on the day or the day before to check you cannot spread Covid to other members. The infection rates are very high at the moment.
It will be so nice to meet up again after such a long layoff.
Hopefully we will see some of our new members who have been unaware of our past meetings. Do come along and share success stories (and others) from this last season.
MEETINGS HELD ON THE FIRST MONDAY OF THE MONTH AT WSC at 19.45hrs.
Regards, Brenda McKee. (ACBO Secretary)
